The 34-year-old news anchor showed off a baby bump for the first time at a Christian Dior party in New York on Monday (12May08) which she attended with her boyfriend Adam Goldfried and her superstar sister.

The 39-year-old singer/actress/entrepreneur is also thinking about the 93,000 sick and seriously injured children treated annually by Childrens Hospital Los Angeles - and how she can help.

Lopez announced Wednesday that she’ll host and help coordinate the third Noche de Ninos benefit gala. This year’s star-studded party, to be held Oct. 11 at the Nokia Center, will feature performances by Lopez, Anthony, Alejandro Sanz and Latin rockers Juanes and Mana.

Lopez, who was Noche de Ninos’ first honoree in 2004, said her twin son and daughter inspired her to get more involved.

“Doing something where I was proactive … where I was the one pushing and making something happen, that just became very important to me,” Lopez told The Associated Press. “I don’t know if it was because I was pregnant and thinking about children, thinking about the world. Definitely my children inspire me very much in so many ways, even just in the past two and a half months of their little lives.”

“They inspire me to want to be better, to be a better person, to do something for the world, to set an example for them, to make them proud of me and to know that there’s a certain way that you should live,” she said. “I’ve been very fortunate over the years, but I’ve also worked very hard, and that’s the example I want to set for my children.”

Lopez said she was looking for ways to contribute more to the charity.

“I kind of fell in love with the kids,” she said, “and it’s just magnified now that I have my own children.”

Working with her sister Lynda and Noche de Ninos founder Giselle Fernandez, Lopez came up with the idea of a concert and started asking friends for help.

“They’ve been very forthcoming with their time and, in this case, their talent to make this really a one-of-a-kind concert,” she said, adding that she rarely calls to ask for favors.

“I don’t ask for a glass of water when I’m on the set. It’s just not my style.”

‘Bennifer’ shooting Jenny From The Block.

He is an Oscar-winning star and the proud director of a hard-hitting thriller predicted to be one of the hottest movies this summer.

But no matter how successful actor Ben Affleck is today, he knows he’ll never escape from that Jenny From The Block video moment which could have killed his career.

He confesses that rubbing sun tan lotion into his then girlfriend Jennifer Lopez’s bum for a music video was a big mistake.

Ben said: “If I have a regret, it was doing the music video. But that happened years ago. I’ve moved on.”

It was during his J-Lo period that the shine started to come off Ben’s career, culminating in the 2003 dud movie Gigli and a bling engagement that made “Bennifer” one of the most loathed couples in Hollywood.

Even Ben, 35, began to realise that their relationship was a big turn-off for audiences, but he says it would be ungallant to blame his Gigli co-star for his career nosedive.

“It not only makes me look like a petulant fool, but it surely qualifies as ungentlemanly? For the record, did she hurt my career? No,” he said.

It feels safer to turn the spotlight on his latest venture, directing crime thriller, Gone Baby Gone.

But even working on that was less than comfortable as he had to direct his younger brother Casey, who plays private detective Patrick Kenzie, hired by frantic parents to find a missing four-year-old girl.

It was anything but happy families on set, as Ben and Casey, 32, drove each other mad by arguing during filming.

“I guess you fight with all of your directors. It’s always a struggle,” confessed Ben, who said that when Casey questioned his decisions, he had to conquer the urge to make himself an only child.

“You have to treat him as you’d treat any actor in the movie, which sometimes means something as simple as trying to swallow the urge to strangle him,” he grinned.

Casey readily admits that working with Ben was not always easy for him either

“We just fought,” Casey recalled. “I would take his direction and say, ‘That’s stupid’ and then he would say, ‘You’re stupid’ and I’d say he was stupid again.”

But in the end Ben reckons that the feuding and fighting off-camera helped make Gone Baby Gone a better picture.

“You’re not doing the right thing if you’re always just agreeing,” he said. “The worst mistakes I’ve made have come when I have just agreed with people. So we went through some disagreements, but the scenes almost always got better because of that.”

Yet some doubted that putting the two hot-headed Afflecks in the same movie would ever be a good idea, suggesting Ben was doing his less well-known brother a favour by making him the star of the film.

But Ben points out that when he first offered Casey the lead in his movie, his baby brother, who also starred in Brad Pitt’s last movie The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford and all the Oceans movies, turned him down. Eventually, however, Ben talked him round.

When Ben first bought the rights to the movie, Casey was far from his mind. Back then, Ben wanted to star himself alongside his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. But while he and his old friend Aaron Stockard were writing the screenplay, he decided he wanted to direct the picture instead.

“At first, I had no intention of casting Casey,” he said of his replacement.

“The character in the book, which the film is adapted from, was older, say 35 or 40 but I couldn’t find the right actor.

“So, I thought what if I make him 29-30, which would give him somewhere to go? Then I thought, I’m going to cast this great actor who knows Boston and I can afford.

“There were some people who thought Casey was in the movie because he was my brother, but there is nobody who sees the movie and thinks that any more.

“My brother is a really good actor, so I have the good fortune of being able to show an audience someone kind of new and surprising that’s also really good.”

The two Afflecks are close enough to have identical Celtic tattoos referring to the bond of brotherhood, and in a way, it was Casey who made possible Ben’s Academy Award for writing Good Will Hunting.

Casey was featured in director Gus Van Sant’s To Die For and introduced the filmmaker to his brother. He also gave Ben the money to buy a computer to write the script.

“It was always just the two of us,” recalled Ben, who was raised with Casey by their single-parent mother after their father left the family and their Boston home

“We lived with just my mom, and she’d work seven till six, so we spent a lot of time, just the two of us. So we’re pretty close.”

The success of Gone Baby Gone has already boosted the fortunes of the Afflecks in America, and looks like being part of Ben’s slow climb back to the A-list.

When Good Will Hunting catapulted Ben to fame, at 25, alongside childhood pal Matt Damon, he seemed set to for a long career.

In Armageddon, he played an action hero, and 2001’s Pearl Harbor and 2002’s Changing Lanes and The Sum of All Fears confirmed his leading man status.

Off-camera he enjoyed gambling and booze, to the point of checking himself into rehab six years ago.

His back-to-back bombs Surviving Christmas and Jersey Girl in 2004 seemed to suggest Ben’s time as a blue-eyed box office boy was also over. Another film, Man About Town, didn’t even get a cinema release.

He said: “Basically, I got to a point in my life where I had to re-examine what I was doing. That’s when I decided I was going to succeed or fail on the basis of my own instincts, rather than trying to pander to some imaginary audience.”

Ben also sorted out his personal life by ditching J-Lo, and marrying Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner in 2005.

They became parents to Violet Anne in December of that year.

The proud dad says fatherhood is “the best thing that ever happened to me.”

“She is happy as hell and talks like crazy,” said Ben of his two-year-old. “She has the ability to make me feel so good that, when I’m not with her for a while, all I want to do is go home, just to be around her again.”

Ben’s dad role has also made him more sensitive about the wider effects of the missing-child plotline of Gone Baby Gone.

Although fictional, Gone Baby Gone bears eerie resemblances to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and because of the case’s prominence, the film’s distributors delayed the UK release for eight months.

“Before I had a daughter of my own, I’d have taken the story more lightly,” he said.

“I had an intellectual understanding of the dangers to children. I knew the worst thing that could happen to a parent would be to have your child taken away. But once I had Violet, I understood it emotionally, and that’s a big difference.

“I was only vaguely aware of the Madeleine case because it wasn’t a big thing in the United States.”

Once he was made aware of the McCann story, he agreed with the UK distributors that the film needed to be held back.

Ben said: “I absolutely support the decision and I’m pleased by what I think is erring on the side of good taste.”

Gone Baby Gone is set for release on June 6.

We stopped in NYC on the way back to Miami for a few days to check on Jennifer and Marc and the babies. They are growing so fast and are SO beautiful. Amber and I helped Jennifer for a couple days because believe it or not, she has no nanny and she and Marc are talking [sic!] care of Emme and Max alone. They are amazing and they are great at it. They just get a babysitter when they need it at night for an event. And they love every second of it and they should because they are such good babies. Emme is so sweet and content all the time and Max is like a athlete already. His body is like JR’s at the top, so muscular and thick. I love them. Amber loves them so much too and it is great to have that time with her with the twins, because I get to tell her all the things I remember about her when she was that age. Of course, Jennifer is skinny again and always gorgeous and she glows like I have never seen.
