“The Governess” Filming in October
Filed under: Movies, The Governess by Imko

Turns out rumor isn’t true that “The Governess” will start filming in September after all. But hold on, no need to get upset since filming starts one month later in October!
The Hollywood Reporter writes that the film will ‘gear up’ in october, which we presume means filming starts. Here’s an excerpt from the article:
Six YFG productions are heading to theaters, including the Uma Thurman romcom “The Accidental Husband” (Sept. 5), followed by Rod Lurie’s government tale “Nothing But the Truth,” teen drama “Assassination of a High School President,” the Amanda Peet-Mark Ruffalo-Ethan Hawke starrer “What Doesn’t Kill You,” and “Possession,” with Sarah Michelle Gellar. On the production side, the Jennifer Lopez romcom “The Governess” and the Pablo Escobar biopic “Killing Pablo” both gear up in October.
This is great news, I can’t wait to see Jennifer on the set again!

#8 Getting It Right
Most people hear “triathlon” and think Ironman—a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile marathon. “That’s for crazy people!” jokes Jennifer Lopez, who’s training for her first triathlon, the Nautica Malibu Triathlon’s classic distance (a half-mile swim, 18-mile bike and 4-mile run), to raise money and awareness for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.
Races like the Malibu tri and shorter, sprint-distance events are a challenging and fun way to get in shape, and you never get bored, says Lucy Danziger, SELF’s editor-in-chief and a huge cheerleader for the sport, who will be racing with Jennifer. “If you can bike, run and swim, each separately, you can do it,” Lucy says. We checked in with Gunnar Peterson, Jennifer’s trainer, to find out more about her training.
“The goal is to be comfortable throughout the event. Jennifer should be able to go out to dinner afterward, not check into the ER. We started by focusing on each of the three events individually to lay a strong foundation. Then we began working on the transitions. You don’t need to do the whole event during training, but you try to simulate the race conditions—biking, then immediately running. Or by doing a mini-tri—all three events at shorter distances.

#7 Our hero honors her
Edelman and Lopez at the reception. Soren McCarty/WireImage.com
SELF took a break from tracking Jennifer Lopez’s triathlon training triumphs and caught up with her in Denver for a different sort of impressive undertaking. Yesterday, our 2008 Most Inspiring Woman hosted a reception to honor a woman who inspires her, Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children’s Defense Fund. The event, cohosted by Capitol File magazine and Viacom (with a little help from SELF), paid tribute to Edelman for all the amazing work she’s done on behalf of those who can’t vote, lobby or speak for themselves.
The Denver Art Museum was buzzing with political stars and politically minded celebs in town for the Democratic National Convention. Everyone there was talking about how this was the most star-studded event of the week so far. We spotted New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson; Ken Salazar, senator from Colorado; Antonio Villaraigosa, mayor of Los Angeles; plus Angela Bassett, Connie Britton, Fran Drescher, Cameron Crowe, J.J. Abrams and more.
Jennifer was busy as host, but she of course stopped to talk to SELF about the event and what’s next for her with her triathlon training (more swimming!). Everyone seemed so energetic and excited; you could feel the positive energy, which grew as Jennifer took the podium (looking incredible, with a new, blonder ‘do, courtesy of the fabulous Ken Paves) to introduce Edelman.
Jennifer talked about the work Edelman has done and what an inspiration she’s been now that Jennifer herself is more involved in philanthropic projects. (Aside from partnering with SELF to raise money for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, which you’ve been reading about on this blog, she’s in the process of starting her own foundation!)
“After the birth of my children, I felt even stronger about making a difference. If I had a dollar for everyone who told me, ‘Jennifer, don’t start your own foundation, it will be such a headache,’ I could have provided health care for all the children in the country,” she said.
But all the obstacles have only strengthened her resolve to follow Edelman’s example, she added. If the dedication she puts into triathlon training and raising money for the hospital is any indication, we know Jennifer’s foundation will be a huge success.

Voto Latino lit up the red carpet Wednesday night with the sound of motorcycles gunning in the background. Rosario Dawson, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara, Fat Joe and Wilmer Valderrama stopped and talked to the crowd and posed for pictures on their way into the club.
Jennifer Lopez and celeb producer, manager Benny Medina bypassed the red carpet and were spotted sitting on a couch inside. Rumors were swirling that Leonardo DiCaprio would soon show.
Dawson is the co-founder of Voto Latino, a four-year-old organization that’s making inroads with registering and informing Latino voters.

Here’s a video of Jennifer and Marian Wright Edelman in Denver today, discussing women, children, healthcare, her new foundation, voting and motherhood. It’s probably shot right before or right after the DNC Children’s Defense Fund Event, where Jennifer honored Marian for her work with the Children’s Defense Fund today.
